What is our product?

Our product, "Star Sailors", is a game divided into three main components:

  1. A science-fiction themed game built in the Unity game engine
  2. A blockchain marketplace that integrates into the game "Star Sailors"
  3. A data-visualisation interface that enables users to contribute to citizen science, and learn while playing games

"Star Sailors" Game

The game is a semi-sandbox game that will be released for console & PC devices, with minimal interaction enabled through the use of a "Companion App" on the user's iPhone or Android mobile device. The plot of the game is that every force in the universe is sentient, and every couple of thousand years there's problems that arise due to the "opposing forces". It's up to YOU to put things right.

The game will have limited multiplayer features with off-line access enabled, and will feature stunning graphics made possible by the Unity Burst Compiler. Players will navigate the stars, working together to fix the problems that have arisen and work together to document the discoveries and discover meaning in a universe with no predefined meaning.

Through the use of citizen science and blockchain integration (as explained below), Star Sailors will be a truly unique and interactive game.

Blockchain marketplace

There are a number of marketplaces for NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens on the blockchain). They all seem to serve a certain purpose - CryptoKitties (Ethereum-based) is a collectable game based around NFTs, while Hicetnunc (Tezos) & Objkt.com (Ethereum) are simply just megastores where people buy and mint NFTs in large amounts. There's fully-fledged games based around NFTs like DefiPet and Lost Relics, but there's something that we feel that we have in our marketplace that others around the world are missing. Games based around NFTs are not a marketplace, and marketplaces like Hicetnunc don't have a way to trade in-game assets.

A key feature of the Star Sailors product is that we will have a web3-based marketplace (decentralised) that acts as a superstore for in-game assets that exists as a separate website, as an external marketplace. This allows players to mint their own NFTs, with custom metadata tags, in-game, as well as use their existing NFTs' value to buy and sell in-game assets. Even if players don't have any digital currencies and don't want to spend any money, the game is entirely free to play and there will be no distinct advantage for users who spend more money in the game. Assets in-game can be generated through in-game actions, unlike a product like Cryptokitties where players have to put in a minimum of $100 usd simply to start the game with the two cheapest assets available.
